The stop
The Illumination Tower is the last big stop of the evening, after dinner and, in season, the boat. The itinerary gives it about half an hour.
Why the falls are lit at all
From the Canadian side, floodlights illuminate both sides of the falls for several hours after dusk. The tour lets you take a hand in that display.
Your hand on the lights
Guests get the chance to control the lights themselves and change the colour of the falls. It is the part of the night the tour is named for in spirit: you light up Niagara Falls.
What guests describe
Choosing the colours is the moment reviewers return to. One wrote about drawing their own rainbow on the falls and loving the photograph in front of their colours.
The keepsake
Before you leave the tower you are given an “I Lit Up Niagara Falls” certificate. It is a paper souvenir, so it travels home in a bag without trouble.
The Power Station evening
A second evening from the same provider also visits the Illumination Tower. It adds the Niagara Parks Power Station, with its Currents sound and light show, and the tunnel to the base of Horseshoe Falls, in place of a boat.
